Additional Genre: Informative/Multiple Perspective Piece.
This potential flyer would be made by Coach David in hopes of recruiting new members to the team. This piece is informative, but also an alternative perspective that focuses on how the coach and hockey club would advertise being an athlete to the teenage boys of Beartown. The poster advocates that hockey will bring the boys success, pride, and happiness if they join the team. This type of convincing jargon proposes the positive impact that sports can have on young athletes of Beartown. However this painted picture is not the reality of Beartown, showing how quickly the town divides when Kevin, the star hockey player is arrested for rape, and their chances of winning plummet. The club accuses Maya of seeking attention and lying about Kevin, disregarding the fact that she was raped and is the telling the truth. The club is more concerned about winning and they are okay with disregarding Maya's traumatic experience if that means Kevin can play. The flyer may present and advertise the positives that hockey can have, but ultimately Beartown reveals the horrible things that people will do in order to win. The power that hockey holds within the town blinds the judgment of many, also alienating and hurting Maya in the process.
